I heard about a book called Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés a few years back from my friend Denise Daffara, but than life was happening in the mean time and I never picked it up to read it. Then my friend Lisa took me to see a beautiful singer called Snez performing at a house concert. I bought her CD and fell in love with her music. I also read her blog and learnt that one of her songs was inspired by that book I had wanted to read! This is the song I love!
So I did read the book ! And I really liked it, it’s inspiring. I especially like the old legends she refers too!
And it amazes me how the things which we should have or see or hear are finding a way to come to us. Sometimes it just takes bit longer. And it’s amazing how people inspire each other every day.
Thank you to all of you beautiful people around me for inspiration, love, encouragement. Hope I can do the same for you .
My family and I have just returned home from holidaying in Cairns, Australia. A lengthy visit to the Great Barrier Reef involving plenty of snorkelling was a magical experience all my family will remember forever.
Inspired by this experience came the ideas for this art piece/video.
Using inks, water and seeing images in abstract watery marks is where it starts. Creating images and finishing them off with mixed media is where it finishes. The process is so much fun as it allowed me to immerse myself in my wondrous memories of the Barrier Reef and all its glory.
Enjoy this video and thank you for watching it.
May the awe of nature fill your heart and soul today and everyday.
The following photos provide you with insight into the inky journey.
It’s Winter, it’s cold and it’s PERFECT weather to stay indoors, get out your paints, stencils and brushes and CREATE! That’s what I do and today I am presenting a video of me doing just that! I found some gorgeous music, grabbed a cup of tea and zoned out doing my favourite thing….ART and playing with my MIXED MEDIA stash.
Please join me in the act of creating art that you ease into and love.
A few sneak peeks you say? Well here are some pics:
Don’t you wish sometimes you could be a water creature? Everything in that world sparkles, shimmers and flows.
Maybe I should be the mermaid …
maybe the water horse …
maybe a gracious dolphin?
Maybe not for all the time but for a day in my life I would love to be one of them. For now I can just dream and paint my dreams. I hope you enjoy my project today called Little Mermaid. It’s painted over three small canvases.
Happy weekend to you all!! As you probably know by now Lulu Art moved premises in the last week or so and I’m glad to say that the new digs are fabulous. We’re fully unpacked and there is lot’s more room to move and expand with the possibility of workshops in the future. Lot’s of exciting things in store for the business in 2014!
Todays design team item is from Anne Cahill. Watch Anne as she shares with us her entire process in fast motion video! What a treat to see the whole project from scratch, every brush stroke, every technique. Fantastic!
