Kindle Your Spark by Robyn Wood

RobynHello, it’s Robyn with you today sharing an art journal page.  As mixed media artists we tend to try lots of different styles of pages, trying to find our style, favourite colours and images that speak to us. Lately I have been doing some research into abstract styles and came across the work of Piet Mondrian, a Dutch pioneer of abstract art.  If you are an Aussie of a certain age or a fan of rock band Silverchair, you will already be familiar with Piet’s style as it inspired the cover of the album Young Modern. Piet’s work features strong primary colours and linear lines.

My page features stamps by Dina Wakley and the quote ‘kindle your spark of madness’.  In the words of Robin Williams – ‘You’re only given a spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.’

Becoming a Butterfly – An art journal page by Robyn Wood

Hello! It’s Robyn with you today sharing an art journal page using some brand new Dina Wakley stamps.  I tend to love anything insect themed, so when these cute stamps came in they were in my hands so fast!  I love the size of the images – perfect for cards, tags or art journaling.  This page comes together quite quickly once the butterflies are stamped, coloured and trimmed – I love how the sparkly butterflies gently pop out of the page.  You can easily substitute with different colours or maybe use a different type of background all together!

Don’t forget that as designers we love sharing our knowledge of products sold in the store, so if there is something you would like to know how to use or a technique that you would love to learn – drop us a line and we will see what we can do. Personally, I love a challenge and am always happy to play with something new, in the interests of education of course! (really I just like to buy ‘new’ products)

Breathe – Bloom Girl Tag by Karen Knight

Karen_picHope you have all had a wonderful week.
Karen here with you again today to share with you a very quick , but fun distress marker coloured tag.  I fell in love with these Bloom Girls stamps, so I thought I would have a play with them this month. The stamps are great quality and are around the 4×6 inch size.  They produce a lovely image and are perfect for those of us who just want to run the other way when someone mentions drawing.. I’m sure I’m not the only one!

I can not colour to save my life.. but that is the beauty of Art.. nothing is wrong or right, and sometimes its best to just sit down, take a deep breath and jump right on in… plus colouring with Distress makers is a whole lot of fun!!    I hope you enjoy watching my little video.

Pretty Journal Cover by Monika Dabrowska-Ejmont

MonikaHello!   It’s Monika again 🙂

There was lot of sewing going on in my house lately.  So I got inspired by it. My mumma does it, 🙂  I just watch, admire the colours and touch and feel fabrics, laces, buttons. And I always wonder how it would look if I paint over that pattern or this one?  How paint will behave itself on it? What texture I will end up with? What else I can throw on it?

So I decided to give it a go!  I made a journal ( notebook, book) cover. You can put on one journal and when you are done with it, you can transfer it on another.  Hope you like it.
