Mixed Media Altered Jewelry Box

Hiya again! Idiana here from Idiana’s Creations with an altered jewelry box project this time.

Original Jewelry Box

This little box I found at my favorite local thrift store (I know we all love to find great deals and be thrifty!). It looked like someone had already repainted it but did not do a great job and for some reason added a cheap plastic “pearl” on one of the knobs. But that didn’t stop me from making the transformation.

Here are some more close ups and a full video tutorial below with the complete supply list that you can get at Lulu Art Supply Store.

Dreamin’ of Spring-Art Journal Page

Hiya! Idiana here from Idiana’s Creations. Today I am sharing with you this simple and fun art journal page.

I started on a black background then layered with paint and gesso. I had these pre-cut flower shapes on white cardstock (you can make these yourself and cut out by hand) and painted with watercolours.

Then the fun part was using a fine line applicator with Dylusions white paint and scribbling. I find that adding a little water in the bottle helps the paint flow out smoother.

Artist Interview – Idiana Clausell

Today it is my pleasure to introduce the next Lulu Art Design Team Member for 2017.

Introducing Idiana Clausell from IdianasCreations. Idiana is known for her beautiful mixed media artwork using embellishments and 3d objects. The texture in her artwork means that you not only want to view her work, but touch it also.

I asked Idiana to tell me about herself and asked her a few questions over a virtual coffee.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do. idiana

I have lived in Denver CO for over 10 years with my amazing husband and our cat TicTac. I love everything about all crafts and diy. I am always snapping pictures and thinking about my next project. My style is whatever I feel like doing at that time, from shabby chic to steampunk. I like to think outside the box and create on the spot. My hands always have paints, inks, and/or glue on them no matter the occasion.

How/when did you get interested in art?

Since a child my mother was always doing some sort of craft. Just watching her and wanting to learn more sparked my interest.

20170219_123303

Can you remember one of the first things you drew or painted?

In  my art class in high school I remember was a sunset scene with watercolours. It was not my best!

20160914_133239

What’s you favourite piece of work that you have created?

I did an altered liquor bottle with crackle paint and a ton of embellishments. It turned out very shabby chic and elegant.

20161125_104926

Do you have a favourite artist?

I love all different types but I get my inspiration mostly from Anna Dabrowska.

20170111_140043

What’s the best thing about being an artist?

Creating anytime I want to and customising everything. I also enjoy it when others like my work and want to learn.

20161110_140044

Do you like to have music playing while you create and if so, what kind of music do you to that inspires you?

No I am usually watching youtube and getting inspiration from other artist.

20161206_123325

What is your favourite thing that you often include in your work?

I love adding a splatter of colour as the finishing touch.

20161013_135917

What do you like to do when you are not creating?

Cooking is my other hobby since eating is not considered a hobby. I love food and trying new flavours and from all types of cultures. Learning to make .

20161216_094713

What are your favourite products to use?

Liquitex inks and pouring medium. Anything Prima and Ranger. Also random embellishments I find.

20170205_142204

Do you have any tips or inspiring words to share?

You do not make mistakes on art, you make art out of mistakes.

20160911_122758

Do you have any upcoming online or offline classes where we can enjoy learning from you?

Not at the moment.

20170109_151532
