Art Journal Page with Loren Boyd

Hi there, this month I have done a very quick and easy art journal spread.  There is nothing more therapeutic than starting a project with no intentions of where you want it to go. Just get messy and keep on adding a different element as you go.  That’s exactly how these art journal pages came about.

I find this to be the best way to create something when you have lost your “mojo”  and you just need to get back into it.  Unfortunately my time does not always allow for as much creating as I would like (how dare life get in the way of creating lol) and I find if I have a break for too long this is exactly where I end up.

What a Hoot – Mixed Media Canvas by Loren Boyd

Loren Boyd

Hi there,

I hope you enjoy creating this mixed media owl. It was a really nice change from my usually messy process of having as many products open at once as I possibly can!!! Owls seem to be my “go to thing” at the moment as they are popping up in lots of my sketches also. They are very easy and quick to create so I think that is appealing to me too. I could not believe how fast this one came together. It was a “HOOT” to create.

See you all again with another project soon.

Art Journaling for Beginners Pt2 – Rochelle Melville

Paint, paint, glorious paint! I am well known for going out shopping, to the hairdresser or even to bed with paint on my hands, elbows, in my hair and under my fingernails (why scrub it off when you’re just going to get painty again tomorrow? LOL). I love getting messy with paint, it is one of my favourite mediums to use when I art journal. Today I want to share with you Art Journaling For Beginners Part 2 showing you all about paint. If you have joined in the Colour Me Positive Art Journaling Challenge from LuluArt, this especially for you all.

Beginners Art Journal Page with Rochelle Melville

RochelleI’ve watched many people participating in the Colour Me Positive Art Journaling Challenge comment that they don’t know how to get started, or they lack confidence so I thought I’d run a few tutorials on art journal basics.  This first introduction to art journaling is using products I use on nearly every single page such as stencils, ink sprays and paint.  Please know you don’t have to draw to art journal, I rarely do!

You can watch the video tutorial here:

Materials and Equipment List:

Hope this helps you get started art journaling but more importantly I hope you find art as much of a healing, comforting and quiet place as I do!

Steampunk Sophie – by Kathryn Cruise

LuluArt profile picHello lovely people

Kathryn here. It’s my turn to share my latest Lulu Art design team project with you. For this project I decided to go a little out of my comfort zone and work on a different substrate and add more dimension to my project. I had loads of fun with this and also learnt a lot during the process. I am still relatively new to mixed media so my style is still evolving. I am really enjoying playing with new products and having so much messy fun with them.

You know that age old question if you went to a deserted island what art supplies would you take?

Mine would be Caran d Ache Neocolor II Crayons, my all time favourite supply…… One of the things i love about Neocolor, and there are many, is their ability to play well with watercolor media my second all time favourite.

Hope you enjoy the video and happy holidays!!!!
