Say Hello to the other two Team Members

Now it’s time to meet the rest of the Lulu Art Design Team.

Monika Dabroswka-Ejmont
http://greenkittenart.blogspot.com.au/ Monika

Monika moved to Australia from Poland about 10 years ago. She is a stay at home Mum who loves anything and everything creative but art journaling, painting and drawing her dolly girls gives her peace and happiness. She loves bright colours, shiny things and cats 🙂 Monika has not blogged before so we have set her up a blog to get her started so she can share her beautiful art with the world.

Describe yourself in one short sentence.  I am curious seeker, looking for peace in life and new art supplies 🙂

Why do you like doing mixed media artwork?  I love mixed media because its so freeing, you just can’t make any mistakes, anything goes and it’s so much fun!!! And if you don’t like it you can always put gesso over it and start again 🙂

What’s your favourite style and colours?  I don’t know about my style but my favourite colour is bright! and all shades of Red And Green ❤

How many hours a week would you spend on your art?  If I am lucky (or my hubby is away) I would spend about 15 hours a week on my art.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.  I love watching my chickens while they are eating, they make those cute noises and look so cheerful 🙂 I also want to be a fairy for one whole day, I am making myself a green fairy dress to run around in it and roll on the grass and than have fabulous fairy party. (I didn’t have one when I was a kid!)

What advice would you give to someone looking to get into mixed media artwork?  Just go for it! Get some awesome art supplies and experiment! Give yourself permission to try and have fun!

Inspire us with your favourite quote?  “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” ― Anaïs Nin

Robyn Wood
http://purplesalt.net/ Robyn

Robyn has been a stamper/cardmaker for about 15 years and has developed a passion for mixed media and art journaling. Her style is quite diverse and often depends on the project she is working on. Her cards are very clean and graphic, but with a strong influence from the Tim Holtz style while her art journaling and mixed media work is more on the arty side. She also makes ATC’s and participates in the monthly swap run by Darkroom Door stamps.

She has been teaching for about 8 years and enjoys being a part of the papercraft industry. She is constantly on the hunt for new ideas and will try just about anything in the way of new techniques. Robyn also holds Copic certification.

Describe yourself in one short sentence.  I’m a happy, experimental, mixed media loving papercrafter with a nerdy, scientific left-sided brain!

Why do you like doing mixed media artwork?  I love that mixed media can be colourful and combine so many different techniques, textures and supplies in a beautiful, attractive format.

What’s your favourite style and colours?  I like quite a cross section of arty style mixed media pieces but for cards & scrapbook pages I prefer a more minimal, graphic style. I’m not drawn to cutesy or overly shabby chic projects. My favourite colours are turquoise and orange.

How many hours a week would you spend on your art?  As many as I can! I generally spend time being creative every day and have two to three days a week to spend on art if I have the urge. Housework can wait, right?

Tell us something unusual about yourself.  I am a passionate supporter of breastfeeding and until recently had been a breastfeeding counsellor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association for 14 years and had edited our Queensland wide counsellor newsletter for 10 years. I love to volunteer and working for ABA is something I found I was really good at and it always gave me a buzz to be able to help young mums.

What advice would you give to someone looking to get into mixed media artwork?  Go for it! Learn from your favourite artists by looking at their blogs and watching a few videos, check out magazines like Cloth, Paper, Scissors, Somerset Studio and Somerset Art Journaling and just play with no intention.

Inspire us with your favourite quote?  My current favourite is – “Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working.” ~ Picasso
