What a Hoot – Mixed Media Canvas by Loren Boyd

Loren
Loren Boyd

Hi there,

I hope you enjoy creating this mixed media owl. It was a really nice change from my usually messy process of having as many products open at once as I possibly can!!! Owls seem to be my “go to thing” at the moment as they are popping up in lots of my sketches also. They are very easy and quick to create so I think that is appealing to me too. I could not believe how fast this one came together. It was a “HOOT” to create.

A Love of Beauty – A Mixed Media Canvas by Robyn Wood

RobynHi, it’s Robyn with you today sharing a sweet little canvas featuring the use of Faber-Castell Gelatos and a new product, Whipped Spackle.

RobynOct14

Whipped Spackle is quite an innovative product – you would think it was ordinary light modelling paste but it is actually gesso that has been aerated in a mixer to create a lovely texture similar to icing.  The aeration gives the product an amazing lightness and it will be perfect to use on canvasses but particularly cards, scrapbook layouts and art journals when you want texture without the usual heaviness.

Vintage Soul by Robyn Wood

Robyn‘She was a modern woman with a vintage soul – she came from a different time’

Hello, it’s Robyn with you today sharing how to create a colourful She Art canvas using a bunch of mixed media techniques.  This canvas is inspired by the She Art of Christy Tomlinson, although I hate to admit that I’ve had the girl stamp sitting in my stash for far too long. I suppose she was just waiting for the perfect project to make an appearance in!

As part of this project, I’m also sharing how I use a technique of free journaling – trying to make a phrase out of a few interesting words. Each time I try this technique I come up with a different phrase – what will yours be?

Birdy Princess by Monika Dabrowska-Ejmont

Hi beautiful arty souls!

MonikaIt’s Monika here with my new Lulu Art design team project. But first I have small confession to make … so … If you didn’t realise it yet … I think I am addicted to black and white stripes!  Everywhere!  Stripy dresses, cardigans, handbags, jewellery (I am on the hunt now for nice big, black and white cushions for my red couch) . This is what I packed for this weekend away 🙂 and when I looked around my art room, most of the girls I painted have stripy tops. Maybe I was a zebra in a previous life?

So just to feed my addiction – here she is – Birdie Princess on the Stripy Hills 🙂
