Colour Me Positive – Weekly Challenge

Who’s up for a weekly art journal challenge in 2016?   If that’s you then follow along with us as we fill your year with positive messages and creativity. Let’s take on 2016 with a happy heart and a positive mind as well as finding time every week for some creativity because let’s face it .. art makes us happy!  Sign up to the mailing list and we’ll send out a weekly reminder with the latest prompt.

If you’ve stumbled across this challenge later in the year .. it’s not too late to join in. Just jump right in and grab some inspiration. All the previous quotes and blog posts are linked down below or you can just start from the current week. We’d love you to join us.

(Scroll down to the bottom of the post if you are looking to go straight to the challenge blog post links)

If you’d like to join in you can SIGN UP HERE.  It is completely FREE to join. No joining fee and no specific products to buy. Just use whatever you have in your stash. The only essential is some sort of art journal that is hardy enough to take whatever you throw at it.

As long as you sign up and you are on our challenge mailing list we will send out an email to you every Friday with an Inspirational Quote and a small challenge (technique, colour, product, etc). You can choose to interpret it however you like. For example you may just do a page inspired by the quote, you may use the quote on your page, you may just use the challenge somewhere on your page. It’s entirely up to you! This is your art journal and we want you to do what ever makes you most happy.

Each week we will feature a page or two that have been created from the prompts to inspire you. These might be by a Lulu Art team member or from a local artist. You might be surprised who will pop in 🙂

We will also have a private facebook page where you can all share your pages if you choose to and chat amongst yourselves. This will be a happy place to share your successes and to motivate one another.

I’m excited to have you all join me in this year long challenge.

SIGN UP NOW for a year of positive creativity.

  1. Thanks so much Lisa. Looking forward to the challenges. Last year I attempted the DLP 2015 and whilst it was overwhelming at the start I never actually finished it. Bit shocked I only finished week 6 however I lost my dad so it was difficult to be happy again for quite a long time after his passing. Looking forward to COLOUR ME POSITIVE 2016 with ladies from Down Under…

    • Hi Barb-I found the DLP overwhelming too…I only got to about week 8. I found I was trying to juggle too many factors at once to put on my page. I want to try again, only doing the DLP stuff in one journal, and doing my artsplay playing in another. I have decided I need to separate my playing. I have kept a copy of all of the challenges and am going to do a monthly booklet-with the 4 challenges around each theme together. Then I will bind them all together to make a DLP journal for the year. Well-that’s the plan anyway! We’ll see! I’m from Mt Gambier in SA BTW.

    • Hi Lisa, Well I finally rose to the challenge and posted my first pic today as the pics coming through were so amazing and I felt so inspired. Thankyou so much. It is so exciting to be part of this group.

  2. Thanks Lisa🌷 what a great idea and I’m excited about this challenge and look forward in doing this on my 6weeks holiday 👍😀 could have come at a better time xxt💕

  3. Hi Lisa I’m already a customer at Luluart and consider Tracey a friend ,she’s such a wonderful artist and so inspiring…this challenge sounds wonderful can’t wait….cheers Bev

    • No not at all Barb. If you’ve signed up to the mailing list through the link on this page then you will receive a weekly email with all the info. First one will go out on the 1st January and then every Friday after that. We’ll also put it up as a blog post on our main blog feed so anyone can view it there as well. There is also a Facebook page for the group where we will share photos with one another.

  6. Hello – I am a 24/7 caregiver for my husband who has Alzheimers. I need all of the positive
thoughts I can get just to keep me going. Lots of negative stuff around me but I smile and laugh as much as I can. Love to do art to prompts, in journals and other places too. It keeps me sane. One a week is as much as I will be able to do. It is a personal challenge. Thank you for offering this and I love Oz based artists so I am excited.

    • Lovely to meet you Maryann. I hope we can help give you some positive relief over your year ahead. Don’t worry if you can’t always find time every week, just jump in and out wherever you can. We’ll be here to cheer you on. ~ Lisa

  7. Thanks so much. I can’t wait to get started. I’m only a beginner. I used to dabble a bit as a child-teenager but stopped after entering a bad 10 yr relationship. Have only just started picking it back up this year 2015 and am kicking myself for giving up my love for art.
Can’t wait to play with the challenges and learn so much more.

  8. What a brilliant idea. This came to me at just the right time. As I needed it. From an artist friend who has no idea just how much she inspires me. 💜

  9. So very exciting to have such an opportunity to connect with so many in a beautiful way. Happy New Year to you all and may this be the year all your dreams come true 🙂
    Peace and Light

  10. Hi Lisa, sorry but I have only received an initial email from you. I just made sure I was subscribed but have not had the email about today’s first challenge. I am in Australia. My details are correct. I can do the challenge via FB I know but prefer the email to keep me ‘posted’ so to speak! You have had a huge response. Kudos to you ! Denyse

  12. Hi Lisa, this is all totally new for me. I am looking for a new challenge which will help me to relax and unwind and think this might be it. I work with fabric as I make quilts and kids clothes so would be looking at having some of this in the journal as well. I have watched a couple of youtube videos on getting started and some suggest prepping the pages with gesso. Is this a necessary step? Appreciate your help.

    • Hi Janette, I love that you will incorporate some fabrics into your journal. Gesso is a great base for all your pages. It strengthens and seals the page so paints don’t seep through but also gives the page “tooth” so it’s easier for your mediums to stick. Look forward to seeing what you create throughout the year. ~ Lisa
