Colour Me Positive – Week 41

cmp_banner_wk41

Todays quote is about SIMPLICITY and having a good look at what is really important in your life.

We are into our second month of Spring here in Australia so the mind goes to spring cleaning and simplifying the home. This act seems to free up emotional energy as well as physical space. I love the feeling it creates by simplifying the mind and surroundings.

Simplifying our life can mean so many things. It can mean getting rid of many of the things you do so you can spend time with people you love and do the things you love. It can mean getting rid of the clutter so you are left with only that which gives you value.

Whatever it is to you .. keep moving down that path. Keep freeing up space to breathe. Find great joy in the simple things.

Colour Me Positive – Week 37

CMP_Banner_Wk37.jpg

Welcome to Week 37 of our challenge. The year is flying by so fast! This week is all about CHANGE and how important it is in our lives.  There is a lot of change happening in my life right now and I find it both daunting and exciting at the same time!

We are often resistant to change, but it’s far better to have an open mind to it so we are not taken by surprise and better still for us to realise that if we want our lives to improve then we should actively make changes.

We all have things in our lives we’d like to improve – it might be finances, career, relationships, house, etc. All of us know that nothing will improve by itself. We need to do things differently to make that happen. One never knows what each change may bring. When you turn from your usual path there will be plenty of different opportunities waiting for you. Changes will bring new opportunities for happiness and fulfilment.

What will you change today?

Colour Me Positive – Week 9

CMP_Banner_Wk9

Today’s quote was shared with us by Mimi Bondi (see more about Mimi below) and is about being PLAYFUL. As a child we are imaginative, curious, we play without worry, we live in the present, we have no limits to our imagination and most importantly we create with abandon!

As we grow up, in most cases, we seem to lose this childlike sense of life which is such a shame. Especially when it comes to our creativity.

We should spend more time trying to regain these qualities. Create like a child. Be wild and have fun. Be curious like a child. Live in the moment. Just do, and be.

Tell us a bit about yourself …

I am a Positive Energy Creator! Life is too short so cover your fingers in paint and let loose 😉

As an artist, teacher and author, nothing brings me more joy than when people feel the positivity, love and passion I put into every piece I create… I am here to help you explore your creative positive energy through online workshops, my book and e-course because I know you too have that amazing vibe inside you!

With hundreds of paintings hanging in homes around the world, I think can tell just by looking at it that my art reflects my passion for life and love for vibrant colours.
I believe in making art easy and fun to learn, and my light-hearted teaching style will have you wondering why you didn’t try your hand at painting sooner!

Born in a small vibrant town in France, I now feel lucky to call sunny Australia home where my loving and patient husband (and slightly crazy furry friend Poppy) ensure I will never lose my creative spark!

What is your favourite inspirational quote?

My favourite quote is …”Live like a grownup, play like a child.”

What inspires you?

I am so inspired and energised by bright and bold colours, metallic paint, stencils, stamps and anything that allows me to play and express myself creatively!

But my students’ enthusiastic feedback is what keeps me going as there is nothing more inspirational that knowing you have positively impacted someone’s life 🙂

Put a Wing on it – A project by Robyn Wood

RobynThis month I decided to alter a paper mache pencil box that had been kicking around my art room for a while.

It was the perfect size to hold the collection of pens, washi tape and sticky notes that I like to have at hand on my desk.

Put a Wing on it

Unfinished paper mache products are often available at stores like Spotlight and Lincraft but check out the local discount store or art shop as they often have some interesting shapes and different options.

For the image of the wing I decided to have a go at drawing it myself using an online tutorial. I found a bunch online so pick the one that seems easiest and go for it! If you aren’t up for that – try a Google image search for a wing that will suit the box size and shape. Of course you can use any image you like, butterflies and flowers would also look fantastic.

I hope you enjoy learning how this box came together!

I hope you enjoyed learning how this project comes together. Don’t forget to pop by Lulu Art & Friends Facebook page to say hi, share your project or leave a comment on my blog, www.purplesalt.net.

Two Faces – A Journal Page by Monika Dabrowska-Ejmont

MonikaI have had 5 of the dylusions ink sprays for a few years now and to tell you the truth we are not friends 🙂  This is probably only the 3rd time I have played with them. They are like wild animals – impossible to control, unpredictable but OMG! they are coming in all those O! so beautiful bright colours! So I will be keeping them on the shelves and keep admiring those shades and colours while they are still in the bottle! and occasionally I might let them on the wild, short adventure in my journal and …. Next I will buy new Dylusions acrylic paints because they have the same vibrant, yummy shades, they look so pretty in those clear acrylic jars and let’s hope I will be able to control them better. If not …. Well they will look even prettier on the shelves than the ink sprays.

Here’s what I created with the wild Dylusions ink sprays ..

Who Are You – a journal page by Karen Knight

Hi Everyone!
Karen here with you again today, and it seems as though I’m still having a few technical issues with youtube, so I don’t have a video to share with you today.  I still have a wonderfully “distressed” journal page to share with you though.
Dec_journalpage
This one is a little different for me.. it has colour. yes you read right, I’ve used some very not vintage colours! I love how it has turned out, and still think it looks very me!
I started by picking a few different colours of Distress Paint and  one colour Dylsuions Ink spray and put  down my first layer. Lots of inky painty fingers with this one.. I just swiped , sprayed and rubbed things here and there until I was happy!
Dec_background
Next I pulled out some Tim Holtz layering stencils and added in another layer, using a couple of different Distress paint colours.
Dec_process1
Another layer, with some stamped images using one of my original colours of paint that I used in my very first paint layer. I also added in some random  swipes of black distress paint at this stage as well as a few tiny pieces of torn Tim Holtz tissue tape and left my background to dry.
Dec_process2
While I was waiting patiently for my paint to dry, I fussy cut around a Tim Holtz Found Relative and  did a little reading of some old book pages, cutting out a few words that I might like to use on my page.
Dec_process3
Using some gel medium I stuck my Found relative in place along with my chosen words, and added some  doodling and a smudged shadow using a distress marker around my elements.
Dec_process4
Lastly I added in a few Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs and I was done..
Dec_process5
It’s  very different for me, as I usually run a mile when someone mentions colour, But I love how its turned out, why not put yourself a little out of your comfort zone and try a colour combination you would normally shy away from with your next journal page.. you never know, you may just find you really love it!
