Colour Me Positive – Week 48

Welcome to the final week of Colour Me Positive for 2017, Week 48.

Wk48-Grow Old

I thought I’d end the year with a message that I hope you all read and take heed of. I wanted to leave you with a message of encouragement and thought this to be very appropriate.

When it comes to you art, take chances, take risks and don’t let fear hold you back. If I can give you one piece of advice to end the year it would be to experiment. Don’t be afraid of messing it up. Don’t worry about the outcome, but instead learn to really enjoy the creative process.

What is the worst thing that can happen? You make a mess…. So what! View this mess as an opportunity to push your boundaries. Mistakes often force me to look at my artwork with a more carefree attitude. It forces you to do things differently to repair or alter the mistake. It makes you do things that you probably wouldn’t do, had everything gone to plan.

That’s why they’re called happy accidents. They’re not that pleasant when they happen, but once you’ve proceeded to alter or repair your work (without giving up and tossing it in the bin), the final result will often surprise you.

Never throw your work out. Instead, transform it. Even really messy, terrible work that you truly do not want to work anymore on, can be used in other projects as collage.

The Big News.

In 2018 Colour Me Positive will be different. I have handed over the reins to the talented and lovely artist Theresa Miers. Yes that’s right. I will no longer be running CMP. It wasn’t a decision I made lightly and have been thinking about it for a while now.

This year has seen my personal life effect my work and I don’t feel I offered you my best self when it comes to CMP. Also, as my interest in other projects arise I feel I will have even less time to dedicate to CMP and thought it only fair that I handed over the reins to someone else. Someone who could provide you with the dedication CMP requires and deserves.

I know how important CMP is to many of you and how it has impacted your life. I’ve had many emails highlighting the positive impact CMP has had. Taking this into consideration, I was never going to end CMP without first finding a suitable replacement.

I imagine most of you know who Theresa Miers is. For those who don’t know Theresa you can read more about her HERE.

Theresa was a member of the Lulu Art Design Team for 2017 and has various tutorials posted here to inspire you. You can view the HERE

A Message from Theresa:

Hello. I am Theresa and I am your new host for the Colour Me Positive creative challenge. A decision was made to hand the running and managing of the group over to someone else and when Kylie put a call out to her Design Team for interest I put my hand up. The timing was perfect for me as I had finished up some commitments and was looking for that ‘something new’ to sink my teeth into.

While the CMP community has been very active with participating via the facebook group, I am also aware that there are a significant number who like to get their weekly prompt via email. Not wanting to leave anyone out I came up with a solution that was workable for me, and hopefully, because this bit is most important, inclusive for all. So to that in mind I created a dedicated blog/website for Colour Me Positive with email notifications and social media sites linked and managed from one place. My aim is to make it a positive user experience for our members.

To keep getting the weekly emails of the latest Colour Me Positive I would ask if you could do a small thing which would be of great help. I ask that you head on over to http://eepurl.com/de0L49  to sign up for the new emails. This will not only ensure you get some great inspiration in your inbox but it will also help me since I’ve still got my L plates on with some of this techy stuff, and I wanted to put my attention into getting the new CMP site ready.

Speaking of the new home for Colour Me Positive, would you like to go and see it? It’s still under construction as I tweak a few more bits and bobs for the first challenge that will be posted on 5 Jan 2018, but it is open for visitors. Pop on over and let me know what you think? You can find my Welcome post here –

Don’t forget to sign up for future prompts coming from this new place. You can do that here –

If you decided to stay involved I say thank you. If you feel these changes are not for you I want to say thank you for your support in making Colour Me Positive the success it is to date.

There will be no prize this week to make the transition a little easier for Theresa. One less thing for her to worry about.

Please continue to upload your work. You can upload to the Week 48 folder on Facebook.

Thank you all for being so kind to me these past 12 months and for supporting my design team. They have truly worked hard to provide you with tutorials each week.

I truly wish you nothing short of the best, with your personal life and in your creative endeavours.

Art journalling has the power to heal one’s soul, over time. I know first hand, as it was my one place of solitude and serenity this year, when I needed it most. I art journaled this year more than any previous years and am so grateful I had this outlet.

Don’t stop spilling your self into your art journals and please don’t stop sharing with each other. Sharing you souls with others is essential for solid positive connections. These positive connections with others is what truly keeps us going. Even in the darkest times.

Please keep encouraging and inspiring each other. It is so important for everyone to feel seen and/or heard.

Happy Creating,

Hugs,

Kylie - Signature
