Hello, I am Theresa and welcome to my first video and post for the Lulu Arts Design team. It also happens to be my very first video ever and since I am among friends I’m positive that you’ll tolerate my somewhat clumsy first attempt at this.
I love painting papers with my gelli plate to later use for collage. Lately I’ve been turning my attention to creating images of vases of flowers, cutting simple shapes to build up a picture.
I love my stencils, as the drawer full I possess will attest to. With this art page I wanted to show how I limited my choice to one primary pattern and using it in a variety of ways to add a repeating design through the various layers of the painting.
My style leans towards impressionism which is meant to be viewed from further away than this. The up close photos really show how messy the collage really looks but this simplified process of cutting and pasting simple shapes is a very intuitive way for me to work with colour and develop my idea.
You can see a video of my process here
