Tell us a little bit about yourself …

I started out as a keen scrapbooker about 10years ago and quickly moved to mixed media. I am totally in love with my own form of art journalling (which I call ‘Life Journalling’) which is kind of a fun mix of junk journalling, project life, smash booking, scrapbooking and mixed media. I also have my own Etsy store selling my hand sewn art journal covers, planner pouches and pencil pouches! I have recently started teaching Life Journalling at Lulu Art and totally love sharing my passion for art and memory keeping with as many people as possible!

What is your favourite quote?

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt

What inspires you?

Daily life totally inspires me… I pretty much want to stuff as many experiences as I can into my journal!

I love the map collaged into the background and the ocean theme. Thank you Monika!

Our Feature Artist – Andrea Gomoll

I’m very excited to feature Andrea this week as she is one of my favourite artists. Her colourful whimsical style always puts a smile on my face. If you were ever thinking of doing an online class then you can’t go past Andrea’s lovely class offerings. You will be in for a treat!

AndreaCollage

Tell us a little bit about yourself …

Andrea Gomoll is a Mixed Media Artist from Berlin / Germany, where she lives with her Fiancé Thomas and 2 crazy Cats. She studied Media Design in Berlin and then spend her days working in an Advertising Agency for many Years, designing for major german Magazines. “I loved my job, but felt the urgent need to “get out” and do something more creative – something that would allow me to create from my heart. I always loved crafting & being creative – having my hands covered with Paint, Ink & Glue always made me happy and I always dreamed of doing that for a living one Day … making Art and sharing my Passion for Art with others.”

In 2009 she took the leap – turned her Passion into a Business – and is working full-time as an Artist, Art Instructor, Designer & Wedding Photographer ever since. “It was one of the best decisions I ever made – following my dream!”

“I love Art Journaling, Mixed Media Art & Painting in a whimsical Style. Being creative with Paints, Inks, Pens, Markers etc. is essential for me – it helps through the rough days and makes the good days even better. Art can help you in so many ways – it has a positive impact on your life – and I love to inspire and enable others to play, have fun creating and to discover the artist within, just waiting to be nurtured.”

oceanWhat is your favourite quote?

“You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – Christopher Columbus

What inspires you?

I draw a lot of Inspiration from the world around me. From Nature and Nature Elements (that’s why I enjoy keeping an Everyday-Sketchbook so much) – the Ocean, Seashells, Stones, Crystals, Flowers etc. – stepping back from my Art Table and just “going out” always helps me to refuel my creative energy & inspires me big time …!

Another thing that inspired me are Colours & Colour Combinations … I just love looking at Photographs, flip through Magazines, look at Advertisings etc. to find unique Colour Combinations to use in my Art … once I’ve found an interesting Colour Combo I can’t wait to sit down and create a Piece of Art inspired by it right away …

Beautiful & deep Quotes also inspire me. I love the written word and how much meaning just a few words can hold sometimes. Whenever I find a Quote that touches me in some way I feel totally inspired to create a Piece of Art based on it / inspired by it.

And last but not least – Art Supplies … new Art Supplies always inspire me to sit down and create right away … (as materialistic as this may sound – but never underestimate the power of new Paints & Markers 😉
