Today’s quote was inspired by Seth Apter (see more about Seth below) and is about seeing life with new EYES.
Remember that to discover new things about yourself, your life and your world, you don’t always have to seek new landscapes or adventures. Just change or lift your perspective a bit, and see the beauty and blessings that already lie in front you through new eyes.
Then feel that gratitude well up from within yourself.
Our extra (optional) journal prompt is:
Use an eye somewhere on your page.

Our Feature Artist – Seth Apter
I had the pleasure of doing a couple of Seth Apter’s classes at the Art-Is-You Mixed Media Roadshow a couple of years back and it was a fabulous experience. Seth will be teaching along with a bunch of other wonderful teachers again in July this year. You’ll find the Roadshow in Sydney NSW, Noosa Heads QLD and over in Pinjarra WA this year. Seriously, this is the most fun you can have at an art retreat, check it out now!
Tell us a bit about yourself ..
I am a mixed media artist, instructor, author and designer from New York City. My artwork has been exhibited in multiple exhibitions and can be found in numerous books, independent zines, and national magazines. I am the voice behind The Pulse, a series of international, collaborative projects that are the basis of my two books The Pulse of Mixed Media and The Mixed-Media Artist, both published by North Light Books.
I am the artist behind two workshop DVDs: Easy Mixed Media Surface Techniques and Easy Mixed Media Techniques for the Art Journal. I am an instructor at Pratt Institute in NYC and my live workshops have been held throughout the United States, Mexico, Australia and the UK. I have a mixed media line with Spellbinders Paper Arts, a stencil line with StencilGirl Products and a stamp line with Impression Obsession. I am a member of CHA and a columnist for Cloth Paper Scissors magazine.
What is your favourite quote?
I have a quote that I love from Marcel Proust — “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
To me that is so very positive because it suggests that no matter what the circumstances, we have the ability to see thing differently and discover new things at any time.
Where can we find you?
