Karen here with you again today, sharing with you my love of all things Halloween and spooky!
My tag that I’ve created today I hope shows you just how easy it is to create some wonderful art using just a few of your supplies. Sometimes it’s nice and a little less daunting to create with just a few things that you pull from your stash! I found it a little less stressful while I was creating because I had more space to create in, but also less products to choose from.
I started by inking my piece of cardstock with three different tones of yellow/ orange.. I used Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, and Rusty Hinge. Next I added some water spots- I flicked some water onto my background, let it sit for about 30 seconds the blotted it off with a cloth. I then did a little stencil mono printing using a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil and some Black Soot distress ink. The stencil I used was Shatter. I then cut out my tag from the lovely layered background and distress inked around the edges of my tag using Gathered Twigs and Black Soot. At this stage you could also use your previously used ink colours and ink over your background to just add in a little more depth here and there.
Next I decided to add some random words from the Halloween Layering Stencil. I did this using black soot distress ink and inked the at the top and bottom opposite corners of the tag.
Time for another layer, this time using some Tim Holtz Apothecary remnant rubs. I love that these come with two different coloured sheets, one white and one black. I cut some of my favourites from the black sheet and applied them to my tag. A little machine stitching around the edges and I was done.
I limited myself to using just Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Layering stencils and Remnant Rubs. and I have to say I had a ball! and even managed to use a colour scheme that for me is a little scary!
Why not give it a go and share it with us on the Lulu Art & Friends Facebook page, and don’t forget to share with us what inspired you to chose the products you did!.
